KFilm to Miss: The Perfect Couple (2007)

The Perfect Couple (2007)

An aspiring journalist, Choi Soo-jin, accidentally skewers cop Kang Jae-hyuk who is chasing down a mole. Kang has a phobia of pointed objects. The two end up working together to bring down a mob boss. The whole film is rather disjointed and doesn't have much of a plot. Lots of violence, lots of F-bombs, and not much romance or even real character development. Funny in parts because of how random and disconnected it all is, but it doesn't work as well as it could have.

*Will probably not watch again. Quite violent and the characters' charms are lost because it's just not very well written.*

KDrama to Watch: My Fair Lady (2009)

My Fair Lady (2009)

Grade: A+

16 Episodes

Former gigolo Dong Chan (Yoon Sang-Hyun from "Secret Garden") gets in a fender bender with heiress Hyena (Yoon Eun-Hye from "Lie to Me"). He refuses to take a bribe and she is forced to do community service. She then threatens to tear down his house, and when he goes to her mansion he runs into her grandfather. The grandfather hires Dong Chan as Hyena's personal butler, and then Dong Chan tries to seduce her to pay back a huge debt. Eventually he pities Hyena, then develops feelings for her, all while she is trying to win the heart of lawyer Taeyun (Jeong Il Woo from “Flower Boy Ramen Shop”) and his childhood friend Uijoo is vying for his affections.

*Highly entertaining, Dongchan is very handsome and his comedic acting is spot on; I'd definitely watch this again. The ending was satisfying, and I'd say it's in my top three favorite Korean dramas*

KDrama to Watch: Secret Garden (2010)

Secret Garden (2010)

Grade: A+20 Episodes
Viewing Platform: Viki

Department store CEO Kim Joo Won accidentally meets stunt woman Gil Ra Im when he tries to intercept an actress from taking a story to the press about his pop star cousin Choi Woo Young, (Yoon Sang Hyun) known as Oska. Arrogant Joo Won has never met a girl like Ra Im, and he is fascinated by her impoverished lifestyle, pride and spunk. Ra Im and Joo Won meet up again after a trip to Jeju Island where her action stunt school is taking part in a music video for Oska. Joo Won and Ra Im get lost on the island and end up drinking magic moonshine from a crazy old lady they find in the middle of the forest. In the morning, Ra Im and Joo Won have SWAPPED BODIES! How will they change back? Can they do it before anyone finds out - before they ruin each other's lives?

*Amazing! One of my ALL TIME favorite K-dramas! Perfect blend of mysticism and reality, love and heartbreak, suspense and humor, with a Pride & Prejudice overtone. Even the soundtrack was great - including the melancholy harmonica that goes along with Oska's sad love story. WILL watch again!*
